March 12 2008

Maruti Suzuki India, a Suzuki subsidiary in India, has announced that it achieved one million total accumulated production volume of the Alto. The Alto has reached the million units mark in just seven years and five months since its launch in September 2000. The last half of the million has come in a record 25 months. The Alto has been India’s largest volume-selling car, every month, for the past 37 consecutive months.

Its popularity has continued to grow since its launch, with customers attracted to its unmatched combination of fuel efficiency, contemporary design, looks and features. With this, Alto becomes the third car in Maruti Suzuki stable to cross the million units mark. Previously, the Maruti 800 and the Omni have exceeded the million units mark.

Besides its success in India, over 152,000 Altos made at Maruti Suzuki were delivered internationally, enjoying good outcomes worldwide.

The Alto has incorporated various new features like clear lens headlamps, sparkling tail lamps, dynamic front grill and bumper, stylish fabric and rotary control for AC. Other features that are really important for the comfort and safety of the passenger are electronic power steering, excellent services back up, high rigid monocoque frame made of high tensile steel and booster assisted brakes.
