There will be more than two million tickets available to the public all over the world, as the 42 sports of the Games will take place in 53 venues.

According to Ms. Yuan Yue, Deputy Director of the Marketing Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC), the Asian Games Ticket Pricing Program was formulated through:

·         Extensive market research and statistical analysis;

·         Comparison of ticket prices at previous Olympic Games, Asian Games and other major international sporting events, and

·         Consideration of the local consumption level and purchasing power

This ticketing program was approved at The 16th Asian Games Chefs de Mission Seminar that concluded two weeks ago.

Organizers have divided ticket sales into three stages, the first will start in January 2010. GAGOC may adjust the launch time of each stage in accordance with the competition schedule. Tickets can be purchased on the Official Ticketing Website of the 16th Asian Games (tickets.gz2010.cn), at ticket outlets or at venue-based ticket booths during the Games.

GAGOC will reserve some tickets for school students and youth athletes through an educational initiative to further the development of the Olympic Movement among youngsters.

GAGOC has set up a hotline for ticketing enquiries.
